Resident Anthony Cordero Completes Summer Internship With Senator Kean

Roselle Park Resident Anthony Cordero just completed his first summer internship with State Senate Minority Leader Tom Kean. Encouraged by a family friend to apply for the internship due to Anthony’s interested in government, he was accepted earlier this year.

When asked to reflect on his experience in the Minority Leader’s office, Anthony said, “It’s truly been an awesome summer. I was able to learn a lot about what goes into running a governmental office from Senator Kean and his staff. For the past two months I’ve had the unique opportunity to go behind-the-scenes and actually see how the New Jersey Legislature works. It’s an experience I will always remember and I’m extremely grateful to have been given this opportunity.”

Anthony is currently a junior at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) where he studies Chemical Engineering and is also a member of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChE). In addition to his studies, Anthony serves as a senator-at-large for his student government. He also participates in a wide range of clubs and organizations, from the Student Activities Council to Campus Crusade for Christ, which is a faith-based club that brings students together to help people in need around Newark.

During the week Anthony works part-time with his father at Roselle Upholstery.

“I would like to congratulate Anthony Cordero and thank him and my other interns for their hard work,” Senator Kean said, “My summer intern team has worked diligently on behalf of the people of Legislative District 21 and Anthony has been a been a great addition to our legislative office.”

Senator Kean runs internship programs throughout the year. Students interested in finding out more about upcoming opportunities can contact his office by calling (908) 232-3673 or by visiting his contact page (link).
