Report Of Overdose Ends In Arrest Of Witness For Marijuana Possession

On March 25, 2011, Patrolmen Gaylord and Wielgus responded to an apartment on the 200 block of West Sumner Avenue on a report of an overdose. Upon arrival, Roselle Park Police and the First Aid Squad attended to a female who was unresponsive but breathing. A household member indicated female ingested approximately 15 prescription pills. The female overdose victim was transported to Trinitas Hospital.

While speaking to the witness in the apartment, officer Gaylord detected a strong odor of marijuana and discovered one (1) clear plastic bag containing suspected marijuana.

April McElrath, age 26 of Roselle Park, was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana) and released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court first appearance on March 31, 2011.
