Rabies Clinic In Neighboring Roselle May 2nd & 3rd

Union County has slated eight (8) new dates for Rabies Clinics throughout throughout the county, including two dates in Roselle.

The tentative dates for the Rabies Clinics are on Friday, May 2nd from 5 p.m. – 7 p.m., and Saturday, May 3rd from 10 a.m. till noon at Roselle Borough Hall, located at 210 Chestnut Street.

Vaccination and animal control programs have helped to prevent rabies in most pets so it is important to keep your dog or cat up-to-date on rabies vaccinations.

Cats and dogs that spend time outdoors may have more risk of coming into contact with a rabid wild animal but it is important to also vaccinate pets that stay indoors.

In the United States, there have been more cases of rabies in cats than in dogs in recent years. According to New Jersey Department of Health Rabies Statistics, there have been 7 cases of rabies in dogs and 221 in cats. Four of the rabies cases reported in cats were in Union County with one reported as recent as 2012.

Therefore, rabies vaccination is especially important for cats.

Vaccinations will provided for both cats and dogs. All dogs must be on leashes and all cats must be in carriers. Be aware that there will not be separate times for dogs and cats for the clinic dates in Roselle.
