Public Urination Leads To CDS Arrest

On September 13, 2011 at approximately 1:48 a.m. while on patrol eastbound on the 400 block of East Westfield Avenue, Sgt. David Pitts observed a motor vehicle parked in the driveway of a residence on the  400 block of East Westfield Avenue. Standing adjacent to this vehicle, Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a male urinating into the roadway. With this, Sgt. Pitts pulled his radio car directly behind the vehicle.

Upon walking up to the vehicle, Sgt. Pitts  watched as the vehicle’s front seat passenger frantically attempted to place an unknown object under her seat.

A investigation revealed a partially consumed plastic water bottle filled with an unknown red wine, a prescription bottle containing a loose amount of suspected marijuana, three (3) partially burned hand rolled marijuana cigars, one (1) metal grinder, and a pill container containing six (6) alprazolam and five (5) clonazepam pills.

The male was issued a borough summons for 3-9.1l (urination in public), having a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of September 22, 2011.  The passenger, Maria Crecca, age 34 of Roselle Park, was arrested and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana); 2C:36-2 (possession of drug paraphernalia), and 2C:35-10(a)(1) (possession of Schedule I, II, III, IV drugs). Ms. Crecca was wanted on numerous warrants; she was subsequently released to the custody of Cliffside Police.
