Policy Activity (March 5 – 10, 2013)

March 5, 2013

Aleesia Simmons, 28 of Plainfield, was arrested by Patrolman Rapach after he responded to a report of loud music on the 200 block of Seaton Avenue. Simmons was found asleep in her vehicle with the engine running. Rapach found that Simmons was was exhibiting signs of impairment due to the consumption of alcohol and/or drugs. She was charged with DWI and related offenses. Simmons was also charged with contempt of court after after she was found to have warrants from the Plainfield Municipal Court. Simmons was processed and released into custody of the Plainfield Police Department.

March 7, 2013

Cesar A. Mero, 36, of Randolph, was arrested by Patrolman White during a traffic stop on Chestnut Street. Mero was found to have a no bail warrant issued by the Morris County Sheriff’s Department in addition to $1,507 of warrants issued by the municipal courts of Paterson, Whippany, and Randolph. Mero was released into custody of the Morris County Sheriff.

March 8, 2013

Darryl R. Mayfield, 22, of Orange, was arrested by Patrolman Fitzgerald at the Essex County Jail on a $500 Roselle Park warrant. Mayfield was unable to post bail and was remanded to the Union County Jail.

William Covington, 38 of Linden, was arrested by Patrolman Fitzgerald during a traffic stop on West Westfield Avenue. Covington was found to have a $1,500 warrant from Linden Municipal Court. Covington was released into custody of the Linden Police Department.

Frank P. Costanza Jr, 37 of Elizabeth, was arrested by Patrolman Gaylord during a traffic stop on Galloping Hill Road. Costanza was found to have a no bail warrant from the Union County Sheriff’s Department. He was also found to have $4,340 in warrants issued by the municipal courts of Cranford, Linden, and Old Bridge. He was released into the custody of the Union County Sheriff.

March 9, 2013

Janine A. Barbetti, 51 of Linden, was arrested by Patrolman White on the 100 block of Filbert Street. Barbetti was found with warrants totaling $1,250 from the Union and Cranford Municipal Courts. Barbetti was released into custody of the Union Police Department.

March 10, 2013

Rudolfo Lopez, 22 of Elizabeth, was arrested by Patrolman Rapach after he was observed participating in a drug transaction on the 400 block of Walnut Street. Lopez was stopped in the City of Elizabeth by Rapach, who found Lopez in possession of suspected marijuana and a prohibited weapon. Lopez had a set of martial arts weapons known as nun chucks and a plastic bag containing suspected marijuana in his vehicle. Lopez was also charged with loitering to commit a drug offense.
