Police Investigation Results In Arrest Of RP Man

An 18-month long investigation resulted in the arrest of a Roselle Park resident on theft charges. Robert G. Tobe, 45, was previously employed as the General Manager at Industrial Safety LLC, a fire prevention business based out of Perth Amboy, NJ and his Butler Avenue home. The lengthy investigation conducted by Detective Hussam Assad began in January 2012 after Tobe’s business partners discovered several suspicious transactions involving the company’s credit cards. According to police, their probe revealed that Tobe repeatedly used his company issued credit and debit cards for personal expenses.

Detective Assad tracked the purchases over an 12-month span beginning in 2011 and found at least $69,000 in fraudulent purchases. Tobe used the company credit card to purchase over $4,000 in Apple computer products, home electronics totaling $3,300, a Disney vacation including airfare totaling $9,000, and a Disney timeshare unit for $16,700. Additional purchases include utility payments for his home and cars as well as health club memberships.

Tobe was arrested at the Roselle Park Police Department on Wednesday, May 29th, after turning himself on the third degree theft charge. Tobe was processed and released pending an appearance in the Union County Superior Court in early June.
