Police Activity Report (September 16 – 26, 2017)

September 16, 2017
At 1:14 a.m., Detective Sergeant Dominick Frino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2005 Saturn along East Lincoln Avenue for a moving and equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Kevin Cordova, age 25 from Roselle Park, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Mr. Cordova was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. and was issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, maintenance of lamps, and failure to stop at stop sign. He was released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

September 17, 2017
At 11:19 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2005 Nissan along Charles Street for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Julianne Genna, age 18 from Linden, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, a switchblade, and Oleoresin Capsicum (O.C.) spray over the legal amount allowed. Ms. Genna was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s., possession of drug paraphernalia, and two (2) counts of possession of prohibited weapons. She was issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle and failure to inspect the vehicle. She was released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

September 18, 2017
At 1:53 p.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord conducted a pedestrian stop on a male who appeared to be smoking marijuana as the officer drove by the area. The pedestrian, identified as Alejandro J. Mendoza, age 18 from Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Mendoza was released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

Later that evening at 11:15 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2005 Acura along Locust Street for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Angel L. Concepcion-Gonzelez, age 23 from Union Township, was found to be operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and was subsequently found to be in possession of suspected marijuana along with drug paraphernalia. The passenger of the vehicle, Aydon C. Tango, age 21 from Roselle Park, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Mr. Concepcion-Gonzelez was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. and drug paraphernalia. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, driving while intoxicated, d.w.i. in a school zone, reckless driving, careless driving, and speeding. The passenger was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. Both were released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

September 24, 2017
At 12:38 p.m., Patrolman John Fitzgerald conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2006 Toyota along East Westfield Avenue for a moving violation. The passengers of the vehicle, Triston D. Marshall, age 20 from Newark, and Prince K. Bradley, age 20 from Montclair, were both found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Both were placed under arrest. The third passenger of the vehicle, Kensley Simeon, age 19 from Newark, was placed under arrest on the strength of a warrant out Newark Municipal Court. Mr. Marshall was charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was additionally charged with hindering his apprehension after giving the officer a false name initially on the stop and discovering he also had a warrant out of Newark Municipal Court. He was released on a summons and given a new court date by Newark Municipal Court. Mr. Bradley was charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. and hindering his apprehension after giving the officer a false name initially on the stop. He was released on a summons with a court date. Kensley Simeon was given a new Newark Municipal Court date and released. The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for red light violation, speeding, and failure to produce insurance card.

September 26, 2017
At approximately 9:06 a.m., a resident from the 200 block of East Westfield Avenue reported a theft of a bicycle from the rear yard of her residence. The actor was described as a white male wearing a black shirt and blue jeans. The bicycle was described as a small blue BMX-style bicycle. At approximately 9:45 a.m. Detective Sergeant Dominick Frino and Detective Edward Nortrup located a male fitting the description riding a small blue bicycle on West Westfield Avenue at Filbert Street. The male was stopped and during the investigation, the male fled on foot eastbound where he was apprehended a short distance away on Westfield Avenue at Chestnut Street. The individual was identified as Michael N. Borges, age 25 from Elizabeth. He was placed under arrest following an on-scene identification by the witness of the theft. Mr. Borges was charged with theft, resisting arrest, possession of c.d.s. (Suboxone), possession of hypodermic needles, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons with a Union County Superior Court date. Mr. Borges and two of the arresting officers reported minor injuries as a result of the arrest.
