Police Activity Report (September 16 – 24, 2014)

On Thursday at 5:27 p.m., Patrolman Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1991 Honda for a moving violation on East Grant Avenue at Walnut Street. During the traffic stop the driver, Steve Marin-Cano, age 21, from Union, was found to be in possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (under 50 grams of marijuana). He was arrested, charged with Possession of CDS, and Failure to Turn Over CDS to Police. He was served with a summons and released with a court date.

Patrolman Joseph DeQuarto responded to 100 block of East Clay Avenue on a report of an erratic driver who was operating a white van with the first two characters of the registration starting with “XU”. On scene, officers located a 2000 Ford van parked and occupied on East Clay Avenue fitting the description given. The driver of the van was identified as Christopher Jimenez, age 18, from Fords. He was found to be in possession of (under 50 grams) of suspected CDS (marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. During the arrest, Jimenez reportedly resisted arrest and began to kick and shout at officers. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance, drug paraphernalia, Resisting Arrest, and Failure to Turn Over CDS to Police, along with motor vehicle violations including Possession of CDS in a motor vehicle, no insurance, and failure to exhibit registration. He was released pending municipal court.

On Monday at 8:21 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on West Westfield Avenue at Faitoute Avenue on a 2001 Honda for equipment violations. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Edwin Castro, age 19, from Roselle Park. During the stop, Castro was found to be in possession of a suspected controlled dangerous substance (under 50 grams) of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, drug paraphernalia, and failure to turn over c.d.s., along with motor vehicle citations. He was released with a future court date.
