Police Activity Report (September 2 – 12, 2013)

September 2, 2013

At 1:17 a.m., Roselle Park Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting an assault at an apartment on Columbus Place. Police found Charles Greco, 22 of Roselle Park, involved in a loud dispute with a roommate. Greco was found to have a $250.00 warrant from Cranford and was arrested by Patrolman Dean Khallaf. He was later released after posting bail.

At 5:33 p.m., Patrolman James Kompany stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on West Westfield Avenue. The occupants – Said M. Farhat, 21 of Bergenfield, and Jeremia Ortiz, 26 of Jersey City – were arrested after officer Kompany found a bag of suspected marijuana inside the rental car. The vehicle was impounded after police determined that both occupants had suspended driver’s licenses and neither on was on the rental agreement.

At 12:28 a.m., Patrolman Alexander Lanza stopped a 1997 BMW for traffic violations on Galloping Hill Road. Reportedly, as he was speaking to the driver, identified as Nicholas Zeik, 34 of Clark, officer Lanza detected the strong odor of burnt marijuana. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed a bottle containing suspected raw marijuana and a small smoking pipe. Zeik was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia.

September 4, 2013

At 1:40 a.m., Roselle Park Police responded to a suspicious person on the 400 block of Henry Street. The complainant reported that an intoxicated male tried walking in his house. After a brief search, Patrolman Brian Swick located the man lying in the roadway a short distance from the house. Victor M. Campos, 32 of Elizabeth, stated he was lost and just trying to get home. Campos was found to have a ‘no-bail’ warrant from the Union County Sheriff’s Department (UCSD) and a $1,105 warrant from Kenilworth. Campos was arrested and later released into custody of the UCSD.

At 9 a.m., Roselle Park Police responded to the Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant on West Westfield Avenue for a report of an individual attempting to pass counterfeit US currency. The caller reported that a female tried paying for an item with a fake $100 bill twice during last week. Detective Hussam Assad is investigating the matter.

At 6:59 p.m., Patrolman Lanza arrested Jesus A. Mejia, 22 of Roselle Park, at RPPD HQ for an alleged assault that took place at the Burger King on West Westfield Avenue on August 27, 2013. An individual reported to police that on that August day, Mejia punched her in the face during a dispute. The victim suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention. Mejia was released after posting $1,500 bail.

September 6, 2013

At 4:03 p.m., Erik Lassiter, 19 of Elizabeth, was arrested on a $110 Elizabeth warrant by Patrolman Brian Macdonald during a traffic stop on Faitoute Avenue. Lassiter released after posting bail.

At 7:23 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Hopkins responded to Linden Police Department to take custody of Mario Mondesir, 29 of Bloomfield, on a $1,268 Roselle Park warrant. Mondesir was unable to post bail and was later lodged into the Union County Jail.

At 10:10 p.m., Patrolman Gregory Polakoski arrested Cameron Hackett 20 of Piscataway, on a $500 Roselle Park warrant. Hacket turned himself in at RPPD. He was released after posting bail.

September 7, 2013

At 12:15 a.m., Sgt. Dominick Frino arrested Robert Scott, 29 and Alaina Lowen, both of Newark, during a traffic stop on Locust Street. Both had $300 warrants from Newark.

At 6:57 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to an assault in progress on Jerome Street. The complainant reported that he was assaulted by 19-year-old Mutale Pikiti of Roselle Park. Pikiti was apprehended at the scene. He was charged with Simple Assault and was released after posting $500 bail.

September 9, 2013

At 3:30 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to the 400 block of Cherry Street on a report of a burglary to a residence. Police discovered that the front door was forcibly entered and house was ransacked. The burglary took place between 11 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Several items of value were stolen from the home. Detective Matthew Disano is investigating the matter.

September 10, 2013

At 12:39 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to a person reportedly threatening the staff at the Family Dollar Store. At the scene, police found Shanequa Boyd, 27 of Newark, in a heated dispute with the store personnel. Boyd was arrested after Patrolman Angelo Marino found her to have a $50 Newark warrant. Boyd was released after posting bail.

September 11, 2013

At 12:28 a.m., Roselle Park Police responded to 260 East Westfield Avenue on a report of a dispute. Patrolman John Deegan found the subject walking away on Avon Street. The man refused to provide his full name and tried pulling away from the officer. Carlo Narcisse, 34 of Roselle Park, was charged with obstruction of justice and resisting arrest.

September 12, 2013

At 1:22 a.m., Perth Amboy Police transported Anneris DeLeon, 30 of Perth Amboy, to Roselle Park Police Department on a $500 warrant. DeLeon was unable to post bail and was lodged into the Union County Jail.
