At 1039 a.m., Ernesto Diaz, 45 of Roselle Park, was arrested by Patrolman John Fitzgerald following a dispute on Chestnut Street. Police responded to a fight on the 400 block and found Diaz nearby. Based on evidence found at the scene and a statement from the victim, Diaz was charged with assault and lodged into the Union County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail.

A resident of Charles Street reported that he received a threatening phone call from a former employee. The caller, Carlos M. Macela, 44 of Elizabeth, threatened to kill the victim over his relationship with an unidentified woman. Detective Hussam Assad conducted an investigation and tracked Macela to a motel on Flora Street in Elizabeth. Macela was arrested without incident by Roselle Park detectives on Wednesday morning. He was processed and lodged in the Union County Jail in lieu of $25,000.

Keith Ettis, 27 of Staten Island, NY was arrested by Detective Richard Cocca at the Middletown, NJ Police Department. Ettis had a $1,049 warrant from Roselle Park Municipal Court. Ettis was lodged in Union County Jail.

At 11:26 p.m., police responded to a report of a loud group possibly smoking marijuana in a parking lot in Sunrise Village. Patrolman Swick located Jonathan Muhammad, 22 of Linden, at the scene. Muhammad was arrested on a $1,000 Roselle Park warrant. At headquarters, Muhammad was found to have additional warrants totaling $2,283 from Roselle, Jersey City, and Hoboken. Muhammad was lodged in the Union County Jail.

At 1:58 a.m., police responded to the area of Mulligan’s Pub on Chestnut Street for a report of a dispute. The victim, the bar’s owner, reported that as he was trying to close the bar, he asked a patron to leave. The customer, Jeffrey S. Croce, 24 of Roselle Park, became irate and threatened to shoot him. Croce was found a few minutes later on Locust Street. Croce was arrested by Patrolman Swick after he was found to have a $90 Union warrant. Croce was processed and released later in the morning.

At 9:50 p.m., Patrolman Gaylord stopped a vehicle for traffic violations on Locust Street. During the roadside investigation, two occupants of the vehicle lied about their names. Swadey Starling-Gregory, 20 of Roselle, hindered her own apprehension by identifying herself as Shinese Coleman. Starling-Gregory was also found in possession of a false government identification. She was charged with Failure to wear seat belt, Hindering Apprehension and Possession of a False Government ID; bail was set at $2500. She was found to have $1,096 in warrants from Woodbridge and Roselle. She was later lodged in Union County Jail. Another passenger, Bagethy Bonnet, 27 of Linden, identified himself as Andre Lewis. He was charged with Hindering Apprehension and failure to wear a seat belt.
At 11:59 p.m., Patrolman Deegan arrested Dyamaris Torres, 43 of Elizabeth, during a traffic stop on Galloping Hill Road. Torres had a $250 Elizabeth warrant.
