Two Roselle men were arrested as police investigated suspicious persons on Hawthorne Street. Patrolmen Lanza and Swick stopped two suspicious persons found walking near an abandoned building near West Westfield Avenue. James L. Pierce, age 24 and Roche Landolf, age 27, were arrested after police observed one of the men discard a zip lock containing a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance. Pierce was charged with Possession of CDS and Hindering Apprehension and released pending an appearance in Union County Superior Court. Landolf was found to have $5,986 in warrants from Holmdel, Westfield, Newark, Roselle, and Elizabeth municipal courts. Landolf was released into custody of the Holmdel Township Police Department.
At 11:01 p.m., Patrolman Gaylord stopped a vehicle for several traffic violations on Westfield Avenue near the Garden State Parkway. During the roadside investigation, the driver, David Hernandez, 18 of Elizabeth, was arrested after police found him in possession of over one (1) ounce of suspected cocaine. Hernandez also possessed 50 empty glass vials, a razor blade, and a double edged folding knife. Hernandez was charged with Possession of CDS/Cocaine, Possession of CDS with intent to distribute, Possession of drug paraphernalia, and Possession of a weapon. Hernandez was lodged in Union County Jail on $25,000 bail. Hernandez’s passengers, Antoine Williams, 18 of Elizabeth, and Carlos Tarazona, 20, of Roselle Park were found in possession of marijuana and charged accordingly.

Patrolman Iannone conducted a traffic stop on Colonial Road and arrested the driver, Daverton O. Headley, 34 of East Orange, NJ. Headley was found in possession of a large amount of Xanax and Hydrocodone without a valid prescription. Also found in his vehicle was a metal grinder, a marijuana pipe, and a bag of suspected marijuana. Headley was released pending an appearance in the Union County Superior Court.
