At 11:24pm, Patrolman William Hannon reportedly observed a vehicle with no front license plate and several lights out. A motor vehicle stop was initiated in the area of Chestnut Street and Grant Avenue. While speaking to the driver, identified as Olajuwon Mcrae, 22 from Hillside, a strong odor of marijuana was detected, according to police. Patrolman Kyle Snyder had arrived on scene as a back-up officer. While assisting Patrolman Hannon, Patrolman Snyder observed the suspect attempt to hide suspected marijuana in the glove compartment box. As Patrolman Snyder attempted to retrieve the marijuana, Mr. Mcrae attempted to lock the glove compartment box. He then physically attempted to block Patrolman Snyder from retrieving the suspected marijuana. As officers attempted to remove the suspect, Mr. Mcrae refused to exit the vehicle and bit Patrolman Snyder on the hand.
Mr. Mcrae was ultimately arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was reportedly found to be in possession of several bags of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Mcrae was also charged with 3rd degree aggravated assault, and 3rd degree resisting arrest. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for CDS in a motor vehicle, no front license plate, failure to maintain lamps, and several other violations. Mr. Mcrae was ultimately released on a summons with a superior court date.

At 1:10 a.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2007 Toyota on West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Nicole Baxter, age 32 from East Orange, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Ms. Baxter was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. She was issued motor vehicle summonses for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle and view obstruction. Ms. Baxter was ultimately released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At approximately 6:31 p.m., Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) officers responded to Dalton Street following a report by a resident advising that they observed a suspicious male in the rear yard of a vacant house with a flashlight. On scene, officers located a male within the residence who was identified as Christopher J. Polito, age 36 from Matawan. Mr. Polito was found to be in possession of suspected cocaine and drug paraphernalia. There were signs of forced entry to the rear door and a window. It was determined that Mr. Polito did not have permission to be in the residence and that he was also in possession of a window that was removed from the residence. He was placed under arrest and charged with criminal trespass, criminal mischief, possession of c.d.s. (cocaine), possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft. Mr. Polito was released on a summons with a Union County Superior Court date.

At 12:24 p.m., RPPD officers were dispatched to the area of Woodside Gardens Apartments for a report by a resident of the complex of a suspicious parked vehicle that was occupied. Patrolman Brian Swick located the vehicle and conducted a motor vehicle stop with a 2010 Nissan in the parking lot of that location. The driver of the vehicle, Gary Cheron, age 30 from Coral Springs, Florida, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Cheron was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. He was issued a motor vehicle summons for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle and was ultimately released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At 11:11 p.m., Patrolman Kyle Snyder conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1999 Nissan on West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Sharon A. Whelan, age 25 from Linden, was found to be in possession of suspected Xanax. The passenger of the vehicle, Daniel Howard, age 27 from Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both were placed under arrest. Mr. Howard was charged with possession of c.d.s.(marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. Ms. Whelan was charged with possession of c.d.s. Both were released on a summons with a Union County Superior Court date. Additionally, Ms. Whelan was issued motor vehicle summonses for failure to wear a seatbelt, view obstruction, and possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle.

At 10:09 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2004 Nissan along West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Sarnoff Saintilus, age 31 from Irvington, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Saintilus was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued motor vehicle summons for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, improper us of high beams, and possession of open container in a motor vehicle. Mr. Saintilus was ultimately released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At 1:33 p.m., Patrolman Anthony Rodriguez conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2005 Mazda on East Westfield Avenue for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Christopher V. Charon, age 19 from Irvington, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Charon was arrested and charged with possession of suspected c.d.s. and drug paraphernalia. He was issued motor vehicle summons for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle and cell phone violation. Mr. Charon was released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.
