Police Activity Report (November 22, 2014)

On Saturday at approximately 2:52 a.m., Patrolman Joseph DeQuarto conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1999 Nissan on West Westfield Avenue and Grove Street for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Randy Clarke, age 18, of Plainfield was found to be in possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance along with two (2) open bottles of liquor. He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS (under 50 grams) of marijuana, underage possession of alcohol, and failure to turn over CDS to police. He was released on a summons with a future court date.

At approximately 7:23 p.m., Patrolman Joseph DeQuarto and Sergeant David Pitts responded to the 157 East Westfield Avenue (Vinhus Restaurant) on a 9-1-1 call reporting a suspicious male wearing black jacket, pants, and shoes who was attempting to cause damage to a parked vehicle. Upon arrival, police reportedly discovered Christian Ordonez-Drada, age 24, from Edison running from the vehicle and into the restaurant. He was quickly placed under arrest. Further investigation revealed that Ordonez-Drada who was previously employed at Vinhus, was involved in an altercation at the restaurant with another employee, during which time he allegedly slashed the victim in the back with a knife causing minor injury. Following the incident, he went outside and flattened one of the victim’s tires on his vehicle. Christian Ordonez-Drada was charged with Aggravated Assault (3rd degree), Possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose (3rd degree), Unlawful possession of a weapon (4th degree), Criminal Mischief (Disorderly Persons Offense), Resisting Arrest (Disorderly Persons offense). Bail was set at $55,000 and he was lodged in the Union County Jail.
