At 11:37 p.m., Patrolman Brian Macdonald conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 400 block of Chestnut Street on a 2011 BMW for equipment and moving violations including failing to stop for a law enforcement officer. It was reportedly discovered through a MVC check that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended and expired license. The driver, Christopher Larriva, age 29, from Roselle Park was arrested for Obstruction for failing to stop the vehicle when indicated to do so by police. A search incident report stated that Mr. Larriva was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of CDS (marijuana) and prescription medication. He was issued numerous motor vehicle summons and also charged with two (2) counts of possession of a Controlled Dangerous Substance and obstruction. He was released on a summons with a future court date.

At 2:30 a.m., Patrolman John Fitzgerald conducted a motor vehicle stop on West Lincoln Avenue at Larch Street with a 2001 Nissan for speeding. The driver, Bermido Joseph, age 21, from Elizabeth and passenger Brandon Andre, age 22, from Roselle Park were both arrested following a brief roadside investigation. Both Joseph and Andre were found to be in possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (under 50 grams of marijuana). Andre was also found to have an active warrant for his arrest out of Woolwich Township Municipal Court for $350. Andre posted cash bail for the warrant and both were released on a summons for the possession of CDS and several motor vehicle summonses with a future court date.
On Saturday,at 9:03 p.m., Patrolman Brian Macdonald conducted a motor vehicle stop on East Westfield Avenue at Galloping Hill Road on a 2001 GMC van for a moving violation. The driver, Raul Herrera, age 52, from Brooklyn NY was arrested for outstanding warrants out of Linden and Roselle Municipal Court bail totaling $300. A search revealed Herrera to be in possession of and wearing a necklace which contained a large dagger knife in a sheath. He was charged with possession of a weapon and bail set at $5,000. Herrera was also issued traffic summonses and transported to the Union County Jail.

At 1:30 p.m., Patrolman Brian Macdonald conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2003 Ford that was parked and occupied on Valley Road. The driver, Gabriel Diaz, age 21, from Toms River was found to be in possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (under 50 grams of marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with the same. Diaz was released on a summons with a court date.
On Monday, at 1:31 p.m., Patrolman Brian Swick conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1994 Toyota on the 100 block of East Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver, John Rojas, age 47, from Elizabeth handed the officer a fraudulent New Jersey driver’s license that was easily detected. It was discovered that Rojas had an old New Jersey driver’s license that was expired but revealed numerous outstanding warrants out of Sayreville, Old Bridge, Elizabeth and Rahway Municipal Courts bail totaling $4,655. He was arrested and charged with possessing a fraudulent driver’s license and bail was set at $10,000. He was issued motor vehicle summonses and transported to the Union County Jail.

Right after midnight, Patrolman Matthew Hopkins conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1993 Acura on the 100 block of East Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver, Luis Santos, age 31, from Roselle was arrested on an outstanding warrant out of Roselle Municipal Court for $118. A search revealed Santos to be in possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (under 50 grams of marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with the same and issued motor vehicle summonses. He was released on a summons with a court date.
