On Friday, May 23, 2014 at 9:58 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Hopkins conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 400 block of Chestnut Street on a 2008 Jeep Liberty for a moving violation. It was learned through an NCIC (National Crime Information Center) check that the vehicle was reported stolen out of Palm Bay, Florida on May 17th of this year.
The driver, Sammy Albarran, age 28, from Newark and passenger, Toni L. Beaupre, age 28 from Palm Bay, Florida were arrested for receiving stolen property (motor vehicle). Beaupre was also charged with hindering her own apprehension after giving police a false name, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and hypodermic needles. Both individuals were transported to the Union County Jail after bail was set at $25,000.
