On March 2, 2015, at approximately 3:31 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon responded to a two-car motor vehicle crash involving a 2014 Honda and 2009 Hyundai. No injuries were reported at the time but during the course of the accident investigation, police discover the driver, Rupesh Shah, age 23 from Colonia, to be in possession of suspected marijuana. He was arrested and charged with possession of CDS. Mr. Shah was also issued a motor vehicle summons for no insurance and possession of CDS in a motor vehicle. He was released with a future court date.
Later in the evening, at approximately 9:54 p.m., Patrolman John Deggan conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1999 Chevy on West Westfield Avenue for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Janisha Martinez, age 23, and the passenger, Briana Martinez age 21, both from Belleville were found to be in possession of under 50 grams of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both Janisha and Briana Martinez were arrested and charged with possession of controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. They were issued motor vehicle summons and released with a future court date.
