On Friday at approximately 12:58 a.m., Patrolman Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2004 Pontiac on West Westfield Avenue at Gordon Street for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Marquis Godfrey, age 27 of Newark, was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. The passenger, Adria Y. Smith, age 19 of Newark, was found to have an outstanding warrant out of Linden Municipal Court. Both were placed under arrest and Mr. Godfrey was charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons with a court date. Ms. Smith was unable to post bail and was turned over to Linden Police Department.

At approximately 9:46 p.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2000 Chevy on West Webster Avenue at Roosevelt Street for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Seth Williams, age 22 of Linden, was found to be in possession of CDS (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana. Mr. Williams was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and failure to turn over CDS to Police. He was released on a summons.

On Tuesday at approximately 9:55 p.m., Sergeant Michael Wielgus conducted a traffic stop on a 2009 Honda on Galloping Hill Road at Lehigh Avenue. The driver of the vehicle, Nicholas D. Kutchko, age 25 from Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of a CDS (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Kutchko was placed under arrest where he was charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to turn over CDS to police. He was released on a summons with a court date.

At approximately 1:49 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2007 Honda on Faitoute Avenue at West Webster Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Kevin J. Romero, age 22 of Somerville, was found to be in possession of CDS (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana and also had an outstanding warrant out of Plainfield Municipal Court for $350. Mr. Romero was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and bail set at $1,500. He was released after posting on both and released on bail with a court date.
At approximately 9:37 p.m., Roselle Park police officers responded to 137 Chestnut Street (World of Liquors) on a report of a shoplifting. An employee of the store advised police that a heavy-set male with grey hair in a ponytail, wearing a black baseball hat, jacket, socks, green shorts and blue and yellow sneakers was observed on video surveillance concealing and leaving the store with a $15 bottle of Vodka without paying. A short time later, Patrolman Macdonald located a male fitting the description of the suspect of the shoplifting on Faitoute Avenue. The male was positively identified as Krzysztof Nowicki, age 44 from Perth Amboy. Mr. Nowicki was arrested and charged with the shoplifting as he had already consumed the proceeds as stated by him, according to police. He was released on a summons with a court date.
