Police Activity Report (January 9 – 13, 2014)

January 9, 2014

at 6:43 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to the 300 block of East Grant Avenue on a report of a residential burglary. Entry was made through a front window and several pieces of jewelry were reported stolen during the burglary. Detective Sam Assad is investigating.

January 10, 2014

At 11:28 p.m., Roselle Park Police patrol units responded to 125 East Lincoln Avenue on a report of an intoxicated male who had run into the rear yard of a local residence after getting dropped off by a local taxi company. Patrolmen Brian Macdonald and John Fitzgerald arrived on scene and located the intoxicated male who was identified as Louis Piselli, age 47, from Roselle Park. He was subsequently arrested after being found to have an outstanding Roselle Park Municipal warrant for $2,000. He was unable to post and subsequently housed at the Union County Jail.

January 11, 2014

At 3:03 a.m., following a traffic stop of a black BMW with an equipment violation on the 100 block of West Westfield Avenue, Patrolman Brian Swick discovered that one of the occupants in the vehicle, Islam Mohammed, age 20, of Paterson was found to have an active warrant out of Haledon Borough. Mohammed was arrested on the warrant. He was released on bail.

At 7:17 p.m., two (2) men were discovered inside a parked motor vehicle on Hawthorne Street. During the roadside investigation by Patrolman Dean Khallaf, the driver, Shray Amin, age 23, of Roselle Park and the passenger, Prath Patel, age 22, of Matthews, North Carolina were arrested after police reportedly discovered that they were in possession of three (3) zip lock bags containing (under 50 grams) of suspected CDS marijuana, several glass and ceramic smoking pipes, a metal grinder, and EZ-wider rolling papers. Both Patel and Amin were placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS (marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. They were subsequently released with a court date.

January 13, 2014

Following a traffic stop at 2:10 a.m. by Patrolman Dean Khallaf on Walnut Street at East Grant Avenue, it was discovered that the driver, identified as Brandon Andre, age 22, from Roselle Park had an active Linden Municipal Court warrant for $500. He was arrested on the warrant and was released after posting bail.
