Police Activity Report (January 15 – 18, 2015)

January 15, 2015

On Thursday, January 15th, at approximately 2:53 p.m. Roselle Park Police responded to an apartment complex on East Westfield Avenue for a report of a suspicious male who had entered the complex who was confronted by the superintendent then quickly fled the area on foot. Patrolman Angelo Marino located and made contact with the individual who reportedly led him on a foot chase through neighboring yards into Roselle. The individual hid from police in a nearby yard. With the assistance of Roselle Police, Leon Holston, age 47 from Newark, was apprehended. During the foot chase and apprehension made, a Roselle police officer sustained injury to his hand. After an investigation regarding the criminal trespass and resisting arrest, it was discovered that Holston had burglarized a washing machine located in the same apartment complex, damaging the coin box, and removing approximately $15 in quarters which were recovered on Holston. He was charged by Roselle Police with resisting arrest and obstruction and bail set at $25,000. He was also charged by Roselle Park Police with burglary, theft, criminal mischief and resisting arrest. His bail for that was set at $15,000. Mr. Holston was ultimately lodged in the Union County Jail.

January 16, 2015

On Friday, at approximately 11:42 p.m., Patrolman Joseph DeQuarto conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1996 Honda on Linden Road at First Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Jeffrey Alleyne, age 20 of Linden, was found to be in possession of a suspected controlled dangerous substance – (under 50 grams) of marijuana. He was placed under arrest and charged with possession of CDS. He was released on a summons with a court date.

January 17, 2015

On Saturday, at approximately 1:13 p.m., Patrolman Brian Swick conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2003, Saturn on West Westfield Avenue at Valley Road for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Oluwafuns Ola, age 24 of Hillside, was found to be in possession of CDS (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Williams was arrested and charged with possession of CDS, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to turn over CDS to police. He was released on a summons.

January 18, 2015

At approximately 12:01 a.m., Patrolman Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2000 Lexus on Magie Avenue at Browning Avenue in Elizabeth for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Sherard Faniel, age 31 of Asbury Park, was found to be in possession of CDS (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Faniel was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.

At approximately 10:23 a.m., Patrolman Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2009 Honda on Locust Street at West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Kevin Salermo, age 26 of Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of CDS (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Salermo was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.
