At approximately 12:51 p.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2002 Dodge on West Westfield Avenue at Faitoute Avenue for equipment violations. The driver of the vehicle, Marcarthur K. Brown, age 22 of Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of a suspected CDS and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Brown was arrested and charged with possession of CDS (marijuana) under one ounce, possession of CDS with intent to distribute, intent to distribute CDS (1,000 feet) from a school, and possession of drug paraphernalia (scale and packaging material). Mr. Brown was issued a warrant and committed to the Union County Jail on $10,000 bail.

On Friday at approximately 10:15 p.m., Patrolman Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1997 Acura on West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Ciaran Freeman, age 21 of Cranford, was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Freeman was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was issued a summons and released.

At 12:22 p.m., Roselle Park Police responded to a residence on Dalton Avenue on a report of possible trespassing. Once on scene, police discovered two (2) individuals in the attic of the residence and both were detained. It was learned that the 26-year-old female had permission to be at the residence. The 29-year-old male was identified as Harlen V. Smith from Newark. He was found to be a wanted fugitive out of New York City for a robbery/carjacking that occurred in that jurisdiction. Mr. Smith was issued a warrant for a fugitive from justice and transported to the Union County jail awaiting extradition to New York City.
At approximately 9 p.m., Patrolman Joseph DeQuarto conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1998 Mitsubishi on East Westfield Avenue at Linden Road for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, James Pompilus, age 20 of Maplewood, was found to be in possession of under 50 grams of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Mr. Pompilus was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was released on a summons.
