At 2:30 a.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1999 Toyota along Walnut Street for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Fernando Cruz, age 50 from Rahway, was suspected to be driving while intoxicated and also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Mr. Cruz was arrested and charged with possession of c.d.s. and issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, refusal to submit to breathe testing, maintenance of lamps, and speeding. He was ultimately released on a summons with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At approximately 8:47 p.m., Patrolman Dean Khallaf conducted a pedestrian stop on a female who appeared to be smoking suspected marijuana on Reindel Place. The pedestrian who was identified as Emily A. Schneider, age 31 from Roselle Park, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. She was arrested and charged with possession of c.d.s. and was served a summons and released with a Roselle Park Court date.

At 7:03 p.m., Patrolman Ryan Hokanson conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2000 Toyota on Walnut St. for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Philip A. Lagana, age 18 from Roselle Park, was suspected to be driving while intoxicated. He was arrested for driving while intoxicated and during processing Mr. Lagana reportedly revealed to officers that he had a prescription bottle concealed in his rectum. The bottle was removed by the suspect and turned over to police where it was found to contain controlled dangerous substances specifically amphetamine, codeine pills, and suspected marijuana. Mr. Lagana was formally charged with three (3) counts of possession of c.d.s., hindering apprehension, possession of c.d.s., and possession of prescription legend drugs. He was issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while intoxicated, possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, reckless driving, failure to signal, and failure to keep right. Mr. Lagana was served a summons and released with a future Union County Superior Court date.

At 1:41 a.m., Patrolman William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2007 Mazda along Locust Street for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Raheem C. Nelson, age 23 from Rahway, and passenger Lamarr J. Drayton, age 23 from Union Township, were both found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Mr. Nelson was arrested and charged with possession of c.d.s. and drug paraphernalia. He was served with a summons along with motor vehicle summonses for maintenance of lamps, failure to provide insurance card and possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle. Mr. Drayton was arrested and charged with possession of c.d.s. He was additionally charged with providing a false name to police after identifying himself with an (alias) name and date of birth. He was released on a summons with a future Roselle Park Municipal Court date.
