At 7:26 p.m., Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) Officer Jessica Diaz responded to West Grant Avenue at Chestnut Street on a report of an intoxicated male. As a community caretaking function, the officer made contact with the male who was identified as Lance Broussard, age 33 from Piscataway. Mr. Broussard appeared intoxicated and extremely agitated. He took a fighting stance with Officer Dean Khallaf who arrived as backup and was ultimately arrested for disorderly conduct. He then reportedly began to scream and yell at officers as he physically resisted arrest and resisted being placed into the police vehicle. While being processed at police headquarters Mr. Broussard began to spit at officers. Lance Broussard was formally charged with Disorderly Conduct, Obstruction, Resisting Arrest, Throwing Bodily Fluids at Officers and Hindering. He was issued a Warrant and lodged into the Union County Jail.

At 10:15 p.m., RPPD Officer Dean Khallaf conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2017 Nissan on Maple Street at Reindel Place for moving violations. The driver, identified as Joseph R. Grano, age 44 from Union Townshhip, was reportedly found to be driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage. During the course of the investigation he was also found to be in possession of suspected marijuana along with a glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana. Mr. Grano was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Motor vehicle summonses were issued for D.W.I., speeding, reckless driving, careless driving, D.W.I in a school zone, and possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle. He was released on a summons with a pending Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At 1:36 a.m., RPPD Officer Kyle Snyder conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2006 Honda on East Clay Avenue at Sheridan Avenue for a moving violation. The driver – identified as Shelsea I. Diaz – age 20 of Union City, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Ms. Diaz was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance suspected marijuana, and issued motor vehicle summons for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, delaying traffic, unclear plates, probationary driver violation and improper parking. She was released on summonses with a future Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At 2:14 p.m., RPPD Officer Ryan Hokanson conducted a leaving the scene motor vehicle crash investigation that later led to the arrest of the driver of the vehicle that fled the scene. The driver, identified as Nestor Gochez, age 39 from Jersey City, was arrested in the city of Elizabeth by Detective Sargeant Dominick Frino and Detective Edward Nortrup who located Mr. Gochez and his 2006 Toyota. Further investigation led to Mr. Gochez being found to be in possession of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was issued summonses for hindering, possession of c.d.s. and drug paraphernalia. He was also issued motor vehicle summonses for driving while suspended, careless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to report and accident, unlicensed driver and suspended driver. Mr. Gochez was released with a Union County Superior court date.

At 11:48 p.m., RPPD Officer Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2007 Nissan on East Westfield Avenue at Sheridan Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver – identified as Saeed I. Abdus-Sabuur – age 26 of Newark, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana. Mr. Abdus-Sabuur was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and issued motor vehicle summons for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle, driving while suspended and no front plate. He was released on summonses with a future Roselle Park Municipal Court date.

At 11:58 p.m., RPPD Officer William Hannon conducted a motor vehicle stop of 2008 Kia on West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver – identified as Tiera C. Smikle – age 18 of Carteret, and passenger Alan S. Adamez, age 26 from Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Both were arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance and drug paraphernalia. The driver was issued motor vehicle summons for possession of c.d.s. in a motor vehicle and unclear plates. Both were subsequently released on a summons with a future Roselle Park Municipal Court date.
