Police Activity Report (August 2 – 5, 2013)

August 2, 2013

Terrell Bagley, 18 of Linden, was arrested during traffic stop on Henry Street. Patrolman Joseph Iannone found that Bagley had a $250 warrant from the Roselle Municipal Court. Bagley was released after posting bail.

At around 10:21 a.m., Jean D. Derivois, 24 of Elizabeth, was arrested by Patrolman Angelo Marino during a a stop on Bender Avenue. Derivois was found in possession of a plastic bag containing a white powdery substance. He was also found to have $2,156 in traffic warrants issued by the municipal courts in Elizabeth and Cranford. Derivois was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged into the Union County Jail with an additional $1,500 bail.

August 3, 2013

Rafeal Rodriguez, 46 of Garfield, was arrested by Patrolman Marino during a stop of an overweight truck. Marino observed the overweight truck crossing the Gordon Street bridge and conducted the stop near Grove Street. He found that Rodriguez has been a fugitive since 1994 from Lancaster County, PA. The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that Rodriguez was wanted on the parole violation committed almost 20 years ago. Rodriguez was charged as a fugitive from justice and lodged into the Union County Jail awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania.

August 4, 2013

Roselle Park Police responded to a loud house party on the 700 block of Woodland Avenue a little after midnight. While trying to locate the owner of the home, several young adults were observed fleeing from the rear yard. Another small group of 15-20 year-olds were located in the rear yard, including Elizabeth Henry, 18 of Roselle Park, who was observed discarding a container of suspected alcohol. Henry was charged by Patrolman Richard Gaylord with underage possession of alcohol. A 16-year-old from Linden was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after he refused to comply with directions from the officers at the scene.

August 5, 2013

Roselle Park Police responded to the Roselle Park Library for a report of criminal mischief. Police found several retaining wall blocks were moved and damaged and found that a banner was torn. Damage occurred between Friday evening and Monday morning.

A resident of the 200 block of East Webster Avenue reported that the tires on his 1999 Mitsubishi were slashed. Damage occurred between Saturday afternoon and Monday morning.

Police responded to the 100 block of Sheridan Avenue for a report of an assault in the roadway. Upon arriving at the scene, witnesses stated that the victim walked away from the area. Police were then directed to the suspect, a 59-year-old resident standing a short distance away. The suspect denied being involved in any altercation. Witnesses stated the suspect argued with a male walking near his home, then pushed and punched the victim, causing him to fall into the street. A search of the area for the victim was unsuccessful. The investigation is closed pending contact with victim.

Carl G. Arnold Jr., 48 of Newark, was arrested at RPPD on a $2,000 warrant issued by Roselle Park Municipal Court. Arnold was lodged into the Union County Jail pending an appearance in Roselle Park later in the week.
