At 2:55 a.m., Patrolmen John Fitzgerald and Brian Macdonald conducted a motor vehicle stop on the 100 block of Chestnut Street on a 2001 Hyundai for an equipment violation. The driver, Alexander Goleczynski, age 32, from Roselle was issued a motor vehicle summons for an improper display of license plate. After a roadside investigation, the passenger Damon Grady, age 23, from Elizabeth was arrested on an outstanding no bail warrant out of Essex County Sheriffs. He was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance (under 50 grams) marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a weapon (gravity knife), and hindering his own apprehension after supplying officers with a false name. He was issued warrants and transported to the Union County Jail on a $15,000 bail.

Patrolman William Hannon responded to East Grant Avenue at Sheridan Avenue on a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a parked vehicle. The driver, Daniel Heskeyahu, age 29 from Roselle Park was driving a 2011 Honda Accord that apparently struck a parked Honda Pilot one block from Sherman School while students were arriving for school. According to police, investigation of the accident revealed Heskeyahu to be driving while under the influence a controlled dangerous substance. He was placed under arrest and charged with Driving Under the Influence, D.U.I. in a school zone, possession of a suspected controlled dangerous substance (Heroin), possession of a hypodermic needle, possession of drug paraphernalia, and failure to turn over CDS to law enforcement. He was issued summonses and transported to a local hospital for evaluation and treatment. No injuries were reported.

At 12:40 p.m. Patrolman Angelo Marino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2000 Pontiac for equipment violations on the 100 block of Locust Street. The driver, Andre Highsmith, age 22, from Union was found to have an active warrant out of Union Municipal Court with a bail of $850. Upon further investigation, the passenger, Shakeem Chain age 22, from Union was found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana. Both were arrested and Highsmith was released after posting bail. Shakeem was charged with possession of CDS and failure to turn CDS over to law enforcement. He was released with a summons.

Patrolman Brian Macdonald conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2002 Acura for a moving violation on the 700 block of Chestnut Street. The driver, Andrew Rivera, age 20, from Union and the passenger, Jose Manzano-Zambrano, age 22 from Union were found to be in possession of a controlled dangerous substance (under 50 grams) of suspected marijuana. They were arrested and charged with the same. Both were subsequently released with a summons and a court date.
