Police Activity Report (April 21 – 26, 2015)

April 21, 2015

On Tuesday, April 21st, at approximately 9:44 a.m., Patrolman Kyle Lamar conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2007 BMW on Locust Street at West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Kevin Moranga, age 26 from Elizabeth, was found to be in possession of a suspected suboxone and marijuana, along with drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of CDS, failure to turn over CDS to police, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Moranga was issued motor vehicle summonses and released with a court date.

April 23, 2015

At approximately 7:55 p.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1997 Ford on Warren Avenue for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Christopher J. Finch, age 34 from Sayreville, was found to be in possession of suspected marijuana and prescription pills along with drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of CDS, failure to turn over CDS to police, obstruction, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of assorted prescription medication in one container. Mr. Finch was issued motor vehicle summonses and released with a court date.

April 24, 2015

On Friday at approximately 5:22 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Hopkins responded to the area of the 100 block of Locust Street on a report of a suspicious female who committed a theft of money from a pedestrian. The description of the actor was a female, approximately 5 foot 5 inches, brown hair, wearing a tan jacket. Police located Caroline Farula, age 53 from Roselle Park, who matched the same description given a few blocks from the reported incident. Upon speaking to Farula, she was observed discarding drug paraphernalia and then resisted arrest, according to police. She was placed under arrest and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest. Further investigation revealed that the male who reported the incident had all his property on him and did not need any further police assistance. Ms. Farula was lodged into the Union County Jail on $5,000 bail.

April 26, 2015

On Sunday at approximately 1:37 p.m., Patrolman John Fitzgerald responded to an apartment complex on Sumner Avenue on a medical call. Upon arrival, police made contact with and arrested Joseph Petolino, age 41 from Totowa, for possession of suspected heroin and drug paraphernalia. He was charged with possession of CDS, prescription pills, possession of a hypodermic needle, and drug paraphernalia. He was released with a court date.
