On Saturday at 12:09 p.m., Patrolman Mitchell White conducted a motor vehicle stop on Easy Westfield Avenue at Chestnut Street on a 1999 Cadillac for equipment violations. The driver, Corey Winston, age 19, from Roselle was arrested on an outstanding no bail warrant from Union County Sheriff’s Office. He was issued two motor vehicle summons, turned over to the Sheriff’s, and is currently housed in the Union County Jail.
At 7:47 p.m., Patrolman Dean Khallaf conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1999 Honda on East Westfield Avenue at Camden Street. The driver, Isiah Merritt-Slade, age 20, from Roselle was found to have an outstanding warrant in the amount totaling $250 out of Morris Township Municipal Court. Further investigation led to the discovery of the possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (under 50 grams marijuana) packaged for sale along with a large sum of cash. Merritt-Slade was arrested on the warrant and also charged with Possession of CDS with the Intent To Distribute, Possession of CDS, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Bail was set at $15,000 and he was transported to the Union County Jail.

Patrolman Dean Khallaf conducted a pedestrian stop on Juan Delrio, age 27, from Roselle Park for crossing the highway at West Westfield Avenue and Gordon Street after nearly getting struck by an oncoming vehicle while jaywalking. Delrio was found to have an outstanding warrant out of the Roselle Park Municipal Court in the amount of $500. He was arrested on the warrant and issued a jaywalking summons. He was unable to post bail and transported to the Union County Jail.

At 11:35 p.m., Patrolman Dean Khallaf conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2003 Buick on Galloping Hill Road at Magie Avenue for equipment violations. The driver, Garrod Terry, age 19, from Newark was found to be in possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (under 50 grams of marijuana) and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with the same as well as being issued motor vehicle summons for the equipment violations. Garrod Terry was released on a summons with a court date.

Patrolman Brian Swick conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2006 Pontiac on the 100 block of West Westfield Avenue for an equipment violation. The passenger, Kaashif Williams, age 27, from Jersey City identified himself to police as “Rashad Casey”. In an attempt to confirm his identity, Williams called his mother to speak with police. According to police, when the officer spoke to Williams’ mother she advised the officer that his name is , in fact, Kaashif Williams. It was discovered that Williams has outstanding warrants out of Jersey City for $750 and Hudson County Family Court for $11,850. He was arrested and charged with hindering his own apprehension and bail was set at $5,000. He was transported to the Union County Jail.
