Police Activity Report (April 17 – 19, 2015)

On Friday at approximately 4:26 p.m., Patrolman John Fitzgerald conducted a pedestrian stop on Robert Arthur, age 26 from Roselle Park, at the Roselle Park Train Station. reportedly, it was known to the Roselle Park Police Department (RPPD) that Mr. Arthur had an outstanding traffic warrant out of Newark Municipal Court for $200. When he was placed under arrest, he was allegedly found to be in possession of two (2) hypodermic needles and other drug paraphernalia. He was charged with two countns of possession of hypodermic needles and drug paraphernalia and released on a summons.

April 19, 2015

At approximately 12:18 a.m., Patrolman Brian Macdonald conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2014 Toyota on West Westfield Avenue at Gordon Street for an equipment violation. The driver of the vehicle, Preston Hammond, age 44 of Roselle, was found to be in possession of  suspected marijuana and drug paraphernalia. He was arrested and charged with possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia. Mr. Hammond was issued motor vehicle summonses for open container, CDS in a motor vehicle, and driving while suspended. He was released with a court date.

At approximately 11:11 a.m., Sergeant Dominick Frino conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 1999 Hyundai on West Westfield Avenue at Bridge Street for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Daniel R. Sabosik, age 32 from Carteret, was found to be in possession of a suspected Controlled Dangerous Substance (heroin) and prescription drugs (alprazolam) without a valid prescription. The passenger, Richard C. Sabosik, was allegedly found to be in possession of suboxone. Both were arrested and charged with possession of CDS and released on a summons.

Later in the day at approximately 5:48 p.m., Patrolman. Mitchell White conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2003 Acura on East Westfield Avenue at Sheridan Avenue for a moving violation. The driver of the vehicle, Edwin Ortiz, age 32 of Elizabeth, was allegedly found to be driving while under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and also found to be in possession of suspected cocaine. He was arrested and charged with possession of CDS, and D.W.I. Mr. Ortiz was also found to have numerous outstanding warrants for his arrest out of Elizabeth, East Orange, and Point Pleasant Municipal Courts for $1,750.

He was issued motor vehicle summonses for open container, CDS in a motor vehicle, and driving while suspended.

Additional bail was set by Municipal court Judge Gary Bundy in the amount of $7,500 and Ortiz was lodged in the Union County Jail.
