Petrosky And Shipley Win Election. All BOE Candidates Elected To Board.

Unofficial results show that Joseph Petrosky has won to retain his seat as 2nd Ward Councilman and that Thos Shipley defeated Rich Templeton to become the 5th Ward Councilman.

Mr. Petrosky was appointed to council by the governing body in January when then 2nd Ward Councilwoman Charlene Storey became Councilwoman-At-Large after winning that election in 2014. Mr. Templeton was appointed to council in March after the resignation of Michael Yakubov and then switched political parties less than a week after his appointment from Republican to Democrat.

With a largely absent campaign – especially sign-wise – from Mr. Alfano, the election of Mr. Petrosky was not a surprise. In the 5th Ward, there was a huge campaign push from both candidates with respective campaign signs noticeable throughout the ward and the win from Thomas ‘Thos’ Shipley by 25 percentage points was much larger than many local pundits predicted; with most of them saying the race was too close to call.
