Parent Reports Online Predator To Police

On Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at 9 a.m., a parent reported that upon reviewing her 14 year old daughter’s laptop computer, she checked the history on the computer and found that her daughter had been talking to a male on a video conferencing web site called ooVoo. As she looked over the text of the conversation, she determined that the male’s screen name was “carlos12am” or “carlosprettyboyswagg”. This male sent her daughter a video of a male masturbating.

The video and text conversation was turned over to police for examination.

In the conversation, the male asks her where she lives, what grade is she in, as well as trying to get her to send him pictures or a video of her.

Police Chief Paul W. Morrison stated, “I urge all parents to closely monitor and periodically review their child’s activities on their computers and cell phones. Many children and parents do not realize how much information is revealed on the internet through chatting or video conferencing web sites. This alert and involved parent interrupted a dangerous situation and we will do all we can to identify this predator.”

Detective Richard Cocca is investigating this case with the assistance of the Union County High Tech Task Force.
