The snow, the cold, the slippery muddy fields – nothing could stop the 97th Annual Thanksgiving Football game between the Roselle Park Panthers and Roselle Rams. The game took place this year at the Roselle Park High School Field, also known as Herm Shaw Field, with die-hard fans from both Boroughs cheering their teams on.
With the odds in favor of the Rams by 20 points, their first quarter 8-point lead due to a two-point conversion against the scoreless Panthers gave credence to the predictions. By half-time, a Panther 6-point touchdown met with another Rams touchdown that was followed by a three-point kick lessened the gap to a 14-9 lead by Roselle.
That was the last time the Rams would score for the remainder of the game as the Panthers came back with an unanswered 7-point touchdown in the third quarter and 13 more points in the final quarter of the game to end with a score of 29-14 for Roselle Park. The win brings the Panthers their 51st win in the annual Thanksgiving tradition with the Rams holding to 38 wins and the game ending in a tie 8 times.
