The creation of the Economic Development Department, which is a companion to Ordinance 2542 – the creation of the Economic Development Director – is scheduled to be voted on by the governing body at the August 16th municipal meeting.
Ordinance 2543 will designate the director as the department head. It also provides the simple duties of the department as:
The Department of Economic Development shall serve as the premier professionalized function of the Borough government that interacts with and promotes the local business community. The general objectives of the Department shall be to assist and promote existing local businesses, attract prospective businesses, and promote the ideas of sustainable and innovative commercial growth within the local community.
The public hearing and vote by council is to occur during the 7 p.m. municipal meeting at 110 East Westfield Avenue.
