Ordinance 2536: Changes To The Environmental Commission

Ordinance 2536 proposes changes to the Environmental Commission.

The proposed law lowers the membership of the commission from nine members to that of seven.

The most significant change is the removal of a member for an absence of five (5) consecutive meetings (regular or special meeting) without good cause. ‘Good cause’ basically means not notifying the secretary or chair of one’s absence before a meeting.

Another alteration changes appointments of alternate members from the governing body to the mayor.

A point of clarification is made by updating references from the Planning Board to the Municipal Land Use Board.

The public hearing and vote for Ordinance 2536 is set to be held during the 7 p.m. municipal meeting on Thursday. July 19th at borough hall which is located at 110 East Westfield Avenue.
