Clarifying when people can use power saws, drills, sanders, grinders, tools, and ‘similar devices’ in residential neighborhoods has resulted in Ordinance 2535.
The proposed law will explicitly allow for use of the abovementioned tools from 7 o’clock in the morning till dusk Monday through Friday.
On Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays, the allowed hours of operation for tools will be from 8 a.m. till dusk.
The current reading of the law actually prohibits the use of tools between 8 o’clock in the morning and dusk on weekends and holidays.
The proposed law removes a section that exempts to the use of said tools “in cases of emergency in the interest of public health”.
The public hearing and council vote is scheduled to be held during the 7 p.m. July 19th Mayor & Council meeting at borough hall located at 110 East Westfield Avenue.
