Ordinance 2527: Annual Sewer Rates

The monetary rate for sewer use by residents, commercial establishments, and industrial businesses are set by ordinance every year. This year, Ordinance 2527 will set the 2018 rate for all users – except industrial – at $3 for every 100 cubic feet of water consumed. There is a minimum rate of $57 which will be charged if less than 2,000 cubic feet are used.

This is the same rate for the last nine years.

The rate for industrial use by businesses classified as such this year is $663.52. That charge fluctuates every year.

Water consumption is based on consumption readings reported by New Jersey American Water Company for the period of twelve (12) months which can be most closely defined as the previous year.

Water usage is measured by gallons which translates to approximately 7.5 cubic feet for every one (1) gallon. Information on how much water is used for things such as flushing a toilet, brushing teeth, taking a shower, etc. can be found on the United States Geological Survey website (link).
