If Ordinance 2504 is passed, any agency, company, or organization that excavates a street in the borough within five (5) years of a municipal resurfacing, reconstruction, repaving, or similar type work will have to repave that roadway from curb-to-curb pursuant to standards set by the borough engineer. The costs associated with that repaving will be paid by the agency doing the work.
This excludes emergency roadwork.
This bill goes further than a previous ordinance (2397) which, in 2013, which required that “Upon final completion of the project the street should be left in as good condition as it was prior to the start of work.”
The public hearing for this ordinance, along with the vote, is set for tonight’s municipal meeting at the Roselle Park Municipal Complex located at 110 East Westfield Avenue.
