The New Jersey Transit Police Department (NJTPD) will be accepting applications starting Monday, November 19th, from those interested in becoming new officers.
The first 1,000 applicants will be considered and information regarding the Physical Qualifying Test will be relayed through email. The Physical Qualifying Test will be held the weekend of December 15th/16th.
The requirements for the position are:
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old on the date of the physical examination and not have reached their 35th birthday at the time of the appointment to the Police Academy Training Program.
- Candidates must be citizens of the United States on the date of application submission and never have renounced United States citizenship.
- Candidates must have a driving record in good standing and a valid driver’s license on the date of the application submission.
- By December 31, 2018, candidates must have achieved a Bachelor’s degree; 60 college credits plus one year of full-time or part-time experience as a first responder; or 30 college credits plus at least two full years of continuous active duty military service with an honorable discharge.
All interested applicants must meet all of the necessary requirements to be considered a NJ Transit Police Officer.
Candidates may register at PoliceApp website (link) and will be able to apply for testing through the portal, which opens at 9 a.m. on Monday, November 19th. When registering online, applicants will be asked to upload a resume and an unofficial college transcript or degree.
