Roselle Park Police responded to Costa’s Ristorante/Pizzeria Friday night, February 17th, at approximately 7 p.m. for a report of a intoxicated woman with a knife. Upon arrival, the responding officers located Sabrina McSulla, age 56 of Roselle Park, in the bar area acting belligerent and disorderly. Ms. McSulla, who was found to be unarmed at the moment, is employed as a waitress at the restaurant. She was yelling loudly and using profanity in the crowded dining area, causing a disturbance.
Officers removed her from the area for the safety of the other employees and restaurant patrons. Officers also located the alleged victim, a 53-year-old male from Brick, NJ, who was also employed at the restaurant. The victim stated he was trying to settle down Ms. McSulla, who had an argument with a friend earlier in the day. He stated he was walking her through the kitchen when she suddenly attacked him with a 12″ long bread knife. He stated that she lunged at him with the blade of the knife at his throat. The victim was able to escape the attack with the aid of an unidentified co-worker. The victim suffered minor injuries to his face, throat and head. He later refused medical attention. The weapon was later recovered from the scene of the assault.
Ms. McSulla was taken into custody and charged with Disorderly Conduct (2C:33-2) by Patrolman Alexander Lanza. She was then transported by RP EMS (Emergency Medical Services) to Trinitas Hospital for treatment and evaluation.
Complaints are pending related to the aggravated assault and weapon(s) charges after the victim stated he was unwilling to cooperate with the police investigation.
