Negron Elected To First Ward. DeIorio Returns To Office.

The unofficial election results for the two municipal seats this year have ended with Jayme Negron winning a seat on the governing body as first ward councilwoman and Joseph DeIorio returning to office as council-at-large. Both candidates won by a slim majority.

Jayme Negron – who ran as a Republican – received 226 votes, Democratic candidate Maxine Padulsky received 221, and current First Ward Councilman Eugene Meola received 173 votes. These include vote-by-mail ballots.

Joseph DeIorio – who was the borough’s longest sitting mayor – won against current Fourth Ward Councilman Michael Connelly by receiving a total of 1,533 votes – 47 more votes than Michael Connelly’s 1,486 votes.

According to information provided by borough hall, there were 16 provisional ballots borough-wide and three (3) such votes for the first ward. These will not impact the results of each local election.

Results are unofficial until they are certified by the county.
