National Night Out & Car Show August 1st

Roselle Park’s annual National Night Out (NNO) will take place from 5 p.m. till 9 p.m. on Tuesday, August 1st, along Chestnut Street from Grant Avenue to Webster Avenue.

Since 2000, Roselle Park has been taking part in the crime/drug prevention event sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch (NATW) which started in 1983. This year, National Night Out is sponsored by the Roselle Park Police Department’s Neighborhood Watch program, a group that wants to do more than just crime prevention, but instead, create a “community network to provide a safer place to live.”

The Roselle Park’s emergency services will be on-hand to provide the community information on safety. Some of the safety topics will be bike/water/crime/fire safety. There will also be live music, games, and giveaways. Police cars and trucks – as well as fire trucks – will be on-site so that children can learn more about the vehicles and services.

There will be free children’s activities and safety helmets while supplies last. Residents will have a chance to win a “Ring Video Doorbell” courtesy of Ring.com.

Additionally, there will be a Kids’ Zone at the gazebo in Michael Mauri Park with inflatable water slides, inflatable slip & slide, vertical rush rock wall/slide, and carnival games. Children are encouraged to bring towels and swim suits.

The Roselle Park Cruisin’ Car Show – which had its original date rained out – will also be taking place on Chestnut Street. There will be giveaways, trophies, a 50/50 raffle, and music by “DJ Hot Rod Mike”. Cruisin’ time starts at 4 p.m. Registration is free and everyone is invited to bring old or new cars, jeeps, and motorcycles.

VIP Gold Sponsors for the car show include Carl A. Hokanson, Dunkin’ Donuts, Ryan Inc-Timpat, FDR Hitches LLC, First Independent Auto Repair LLC, Fruchter & Associates LLC, Jersey Jeep Flow, Kean University, Roselle Park McDonald’s, Samuel Klein & Company, World of Liquor, and Neglia Engineering Associates. VIP sponsors include American Wear Inc., Casano Center Association, Capodagli Property Company, LLC, NAR Auto Sales, Park Trophies, Palumbo Renaud & Deapplolnio LLC, Roselle Park Education Association, and Summer Madness.

As is the custom, residents should turn their porch light August 1st to show support against crime. For more information call Casano Community Center Director Rupen Shah at (908) 245-0666.
