Mother Arrested For Assaulting Her Teenage Daughter

On Friday, May 18th, patrolman James Kompany met with a 16-year-old female at Roselle Park Police Department who reported that she was assaulted by her mother.

The victim reported that on Thursday night she was attacked and choked by her mother at their home in Roselle Park. The victim, who had visible injuries from the assault, was only able to escape the house after the mother’s boyfriend intervened. The victim provided statements to Juvenile Detective Richard Cocca, who later secured warrants for the suspect.

At approximately 2 p.m., the suspect -whose name is being withheld in an effort to protect the identity of the victim – was arrested by officer Kompany and was charged with Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Weapon for an unlawful purpose, and Unlawful possession of a weapon.

Judge Gary Bundy set bail at $10,000. The suspect was processed and later transported to Trinitas Hospital for evaluation. The New Jersey Division of Youth and Family Services (DYFS) responded and is assisting in the investigation.
