MLUB Re-Schedules Meeting To Avoid Possible OPMA Issues

Due to a technicality where copies of the meeting agenda were not readily available to the public, the Municipal Land Use Board (MLUB) took the prudent steps to postpone their January 6th annual organization meeting until January 27, 2014. The first meeting of the year for the MLUB was to discuss their budget and appointments of their attorney as well as other professional services.

The Open Public Meetings Act (OPMA) – also known as the Sunshine Law – is NJSA 10:4-6. The statute has in its listing of requirements is “as complete an agenda as known at time of notice”. Although the meeting did not conduct its regular order of business, the oath of office was given to the MLUB members who were appointed for their three-year term and the Annual Notice of meetings was provided in order to fulfill another section of OPMA.

The MLUB’s next meeting will be held on Monday, January 27th at 7 p.m. in Borough Hall.
