MLUB Discusses AvalonBay In Closed Session

On June 20th, the Municipal Land Use Board (MLUB) went into closed session to discuss recent developments regarding AvalonBay. Previously, the Roselle Park Planning Board had heard the developer’s application and was involved in a lawsuit brought by Roselle Park VP LLC – a partnership between AvalonBay and property owner Israel Braunstein. I 2010, the Planning Board and the Zoning Board combined to form the MLUB.

Newly retained municipal planner Harbor Consultants (link) was at the meeting and took part in the closed session. Additionally, first ward council candidate Andrew Casais, who is the mayor’s appointed designee should the mayor ever be absent from a meeting, was included in the closed session.

When the MLUB returned to open session, no additional comment was made regarding AvalonBay and no action was taken. The next scheduled MLUB meeting is July 18, 2011.
