Memorial Day Parade Coming Back To Town

After years being absent from the annual Memorial Day ceremony for four years – the last parade being in 2009 – Roselle Park is set to once again hold a Memorial Day Parade in 2014. Last night the governing body approved Resolution 60-14 which requests approval from the County Board of Chosen Freeholders to to close Chestnut Street from Grant Avenue to Webster Avenue.

The parade is set to take place from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and will close with the annual Memorial Day ceremony held at the lawn of the Roselle Park Veterans Memorial Library.

In recent years, the Roselle Park Boy Scouts of America Troop 56 and Roselle Park Cub Scout Pack 116 as well as Girl Scouts Troop 40193 and Brownie Troop 40807 along with other girls from Service Unit 44 walked from Sherman School down to the library in a silent, respectful formation to honor those who lost their lives while serving in the military branches to defend our country.

The Memorial Day Parade and Ceremony is set for Monday, May 26, 2014.
