Marino Diaz, Jr. Appointed To RPPD

The governing body approved Resolution 208-16 which appointed Marino Diaz, Jr. from Perth Amboy as a Roselle Park police officer with a 12-month probationary period.

Surrounded by his family and in uniform, the young man took his public oath of office.

After being formally sworn in, Police Chief Paul Morrison spoke a few words about his newest officer. He stated that officer Diaz was previously with the Perth Amboy Police Department for over three years as a patrol officer.

“He’s well experienced. He has shown a great desire to come here to Roselle Park. He’d even like to relocate his family to this area,” said Chief Morrison, “We welcome him to Roselle Park. He’s going to be a great asset to the community as well as the police department. Officer Diaz, congratulations and continued success.”

Officer Diaz then addressed those in attendance, “I just want to say ‘thank you’ first of all to Mayor Hokanson, Chief Morrison, city council, and everybody else in attendance. I just want to say ‘thank you’ to Roselle Park and I hope to make you guys proud.”

The officer then spoke in Spanish, saying, “I would like to thank all the people who came tonight and thank you to my family. I would also like to thank God because without Him, there is nothing.”
