During the annual mayor & council re-organization meeting on January 6th, Marc Caswell was appointed by unanimous vote as the second ward councilman for 2011. The election of Joseph Accardi as mayor left his council seat vacant which necessitated the appointment.
Mr. Caswell was one of three people that were presented to the governing body as possible appointments – the other two being Mrs. Vinnie Iungermann and Mr. Jacob Magiera. All three candidates were in the audience on Thursday.
“I thank the council for showing trust in me. I look forward to serving the residents of the second ward,” Mr. Caswell stated after the meeting, “I hope to have an open-door policy.”
Mr. Caswell’s contact information is not yet published on the Borough web site but his e-mail address will be mcaswell@rosellepark.net.
In addressing what he sees for this year as councilman, the newly appointed second ward councilman concluded, “We’ve got some tough decisions to make. I hope that everybody gives us some input so that we can make it with the full consent of the people, not only of the second ward but the whole town of Roselle Park.”
Mr. Caswell’s appointment is only for 2011 since he will have to run in a special election this November to finish the unexpired term of second ward councilman which will end in 2012. No word yet on any others who might run for the second ward either from the Roselle Park Democratic Party or as an independent.
