Man Arrested At McDonald’s

On November 4, 2010 at 3:53 p.m., Patrolman Matthew Disano responded to the McDonald’s restaurant on the report of an assault in progress. Upon arrival Patrolman Disano did not observe any assault in progress. He was met by an employee of McDonald’s who advised the officer that a male, identified as Russell Meyers, age 53, of Roselle Park was intoxicated, caused a disturbance and refused to leave. The employee advised that when a visiting former employee of McDonald’s requested him to leave, the two got into a physical altercation where Meyers went to choke the former employee with his hands. The former employee left just after this as police were called by management of McDonald’s.

Patrolman Disano approached Meyers and verbally requested that he leave the restaurant at the management’s request. Meyers shouted, “No” and continued with several profanities toward the officer and other patrons in the restaurant. Patrolman Disano then verbally requested Meyers leave the establishment several more times with the same response. Patrolman Disano then approached Meyers to escort him out and grabbed Meyers by the elbow. Meyers now began to throw his arms about and continued to shout profanities. Meyers was placed under arrest for disorderly conduct.

Several attempts were made to contact the choking victim with negative results.

Meyers was charged with 2C:33-2 (disorderly conduct), and 2C:29-2 (resisting arrest) and released R.O.R. pending a municipal court date of November 10, 2010.
