Loud Muffler Stop Results In Arrest For CDS

On October 14, 2010 at 12:58 p.m. Patrolman Joshua Medrano observed a gray Honda traveling eastbound on West Grant Avenue in violation of 39:3-70. (loud/defective muffler).

A motor vehicle stop of the Honda resulted in the discovery of an open 750 ml bottle of Bacardi vodka (half full) and a partially smoked hand rolled cigar containing suspected CDS marijuana.

The driver, Jose Escobar, age 19, of Elizabeth, NJ was subsequently arrested.

The Honda was impounded for being uninsured.

Escobar was charged with 2C:35-10(a)4 (possession of CDS) and 39:6B-2 (uninsured) with a Roselle Park Municipal Court date of October 21, 2010.
