Letter Carrier Food Drive On May 14th

The 24th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive will take place throughout Roselle Park as well as the nation on Saturday, May 14th.

Roselle Park residents can leave their non-perishable food donations at their mailboxes and the letter carriers will pick them up and deliver them to local food pantries at the Church of the Assumption as well as the Casano Community Center.

Acceptable food items include:

  • cereal
  • pasta
  • pasta sauce or spaghetti sauce
  • rice
  • canned fruits
  • canned vegetables
  • canned soups
  • canned meals (such as chili and pasta)
  • 100% juice in boxes
  • peanut butter
  • macaroni & cheese
  • canned protein (tuna, chicken and turkey)
  • beans (canned or dry)

It is asked that foods such as frozen food, homemade food or home-canned items, or food in glass containers not be donated.

The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) have been conducting the annual drive in May since 1992.

It is asked that donations be ready by morning. Letter carriers will be delivering mail as usual in addition to collecting food donations so mail delivery time could be slightly later than usual.

Anyone requesting more information regarding the Food Drive can contact NALC Director of Community Services Pam Donato at (202) 662-2489 or at donato@nalc.org.
