Lamp Maintenance Violation Results In CDS Arrest

On July 16, 2011 at approximately 12:56 a.m., Patrolman Richard Gaylord observed a black Ford traveling southbound on Locust Street in violation of New Jersey Motor Vehicle Statute 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps). A motor vehicle stop revealed that the driver’s license was suspended. An investigation led to the discovery of a small clear pink Ziplock bag containing suspected marijuana. The passenger, Bernard Busby, age 27 of Newark, NJ was placed under arrest and charged with 2C:35-10(a)(4) (possession of marijuana). He was released pending a Roselle Park Municipal Court hearing on July 21, 2011.

The driver was issued motor vehicle summonses for 39:3-40 (suspended driver) and 39:3-66 (maintenance of lamps). A family member took custody of the vehicle.
