Kevin Murphy Receives Rotary Club Governor’s Award

On May 1, 2014, the eve of their 94th Annual District conference, Rotary International District 7510 hosted a dinner at Maggiano’s Italian American Restaurant in Bridgewater, NJ.

During the ceremony, Rotary District Governor Tulsi Maharjan presented Roselle Park resident Kevin Murphy the Rotary 2014 Governor’s Award for dedication and loyal service as President of the Roselle-Roselle Park Rotary Club.

“Let me say that this would not have been possible had it not been for the efforts of all the club members, our partnerships with the Veterans Chamber of Commerce-NJ, Roselle Park First Aid Squad, Operation Chillout, and the Boroughs of Roselle Park and Roselle,” stated Mr. Murphy regarding the award.

During the 2013-14 Rotary year, which starts every July 1st, some achievements of the Roselle- Roselle Park Rotary Club included acquiring a decommissioned ambulance donated by the Borough of Roselle Park that was used by Operation Chillout to get needed help to homeless NJ veterans, hosting an annual spaghetti dinner and pancake breakfast as well as a golf outing, getting grants for the YMCA Splash Program, and – most recently – raising awareness to adult literacy by matching a grant from the district in order to present a $1,000 check to the Literacy Volunteers of Union County at a dinner held at local restaurant Vintage Italian Restaurant.

Currently, the Roselle-Roselle Park Rotary Club continues to support the Rotary Foundation – along with the Gates Foundation – in the worldwide effort to eradicate Polio.

“I want to thank everyone whether they are a Rotarian or a supporter”, Kevin stated about his term as Club President, “Soon you will have a new President, Steve Leonard. I am sure and confident that everyone will support him as you have supported me this Rotary year.”
